Scientific research brought together the space music collective known as the Galactic Sound Station (GSS). The funded science investigates the mental health of astronauts. A key research partner is the European Space Agency.
Members of the GSS include DreamstateLogic, Terminus Void, Hollan Holmes, Dreamscapist, and Dunes of IO. TC of Ambient.Zone served as adviser on the album. The collective uses Discord as a collaborative platform.
The GSS are releasing Volume 1 of Music for the Mental Health of Astronauts on 21st March 2025. The music is guided by a 4-stage scientific model, which charts the highs and lows of astronaut morale. The Lead Scientist is Dr Patrick Stacey who also co-produced the album, along with J Ronald Smith, AKA Terminus Void.
